"Be the change you wish to see in the world." ~Mahatma Gandhi
Education
I grew up in Salinas, an agricultural town, and moved to Northern California to attend High School in Davis. After graduating high school, I attended San Diego State University, earning a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a minor in Spanish and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Currently, I am a graduate student in High Tech High's Masters in Teacher Leadership Program.
Teaching Experience
My first year of teaching was at Clear View Charter School in Chula Vista, where I taught a 2nd/3rd grade combination class. However, my heart called me to work with a population of students of lower economic status, and Finney Elementary was just the school. I taught 4th grade, 5th grade, a 5th/6th grade combination class, as well as a 4th/5th grade combination class. Currently, I am teaching a class of 20 third grade students. And yes, I am proud to say that my colleagues call me 'the combo queen'.
Interests/Hobbies
I enjoy traveling anywhere I can! Experiencing the cultures of the Philippines, Italy, and Costa Rica were particularly fascinating. On the weekends, I enjoy cuddling up with a great book. Although I don't get to them as often, scuba diving, collecting insects and rocks, as well as photography are passions of mine. Another favorite past-time is getting my hands dirty in the garden, whether at school or home.
